Spanish Fork Community Theater is pleased to announce that we will be performing Disney's The Little Mermaid written by Alan Menken and Doug Wright during Fiesta Days 2017.
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs including "Under the Sea," "Kiss the Girl," and "Part of Your World."
Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above and bargains with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems and Ariel needs the help of her colorful friends Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull, and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.
Disney's The Little Mermaid offers a fantastic creative opportunity for rich costumes and sets, and the chance to perform some of the best-known songs from the past 30 years.

Some of her favorite roles include Patsy in Crazy for You Babette in Beauty and the Beast, Laure in Oklahoma!, Janet Van de Graff in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Jasmine in Aladdin Jr. She was able to use these talents serving as a Performing Missionary in Nauvoo, Illinois, where she had the privilege to portray the lives of incredibly strong women such as Lucy Mack Smith and Eliza R. Snow.
She currently is a senior at BYU studying English, with a minor in Music. She teaches as a ballet, musical theatre, and private vocal coach at Steps Dance and Performing Arts in Spanish Fork. She is newly married and is loving every day of it. She is so incredibly grateful for his support and love in whatever she chooses to pursue. Dan Bigler (Sebastian)
Dan has had a passion for music and performing his entire life. He plays several instruments including the guitar, bass guitar, piano, and saxophone. He attended Utah State University where he studied guitar performance and now teaches from his home in Spanish Fork. Dan was talked into auditioning for a show by his wife, Krystal, a few years ago, and he has been hooked ever since! He has loved playing different characters, from "Gingy" the Gingerbread Man in Shrek The Musical, Grantaire in Les Misérables (along with 7 other characters!), and Rapunzel’s Prince in Into the Woods with Payson Community Theater. Last year he played Pilot in The Little Mermaid at the SCERA and is excited to be part of such a fun and colorful show again here in Spanish Fork, this time sharing the stage with his wife, who is playing Ursula. Dan has spent the summer working on his best Jamaican accent to play this dramatic, stressed-out crab! He gets so much joy from being on the stage, and hopes you enjoy watching.
Krystal Bigler (Ursula)
Krystal has a deep love for music. With over 25 years of experience on the stage, Krystal has spent her life performing. She gives a lot of the credit to her parents, Joe and Donalyn Ford, for their endless support, and for driving her to and attending countless voice lessons, rehearsals, competitions, and performances in her youth. Krystal attended BYU-Hawaii and the University of Utah on vocal scholarships. Some of her most memorable roles include Lily in The Secret Garden and Adriana in The Comedy of Errors at the International Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. Performing is her passion, but she also loves sharing her talents by directing musical theater and teaching voice from her home in Spanish Fork. Krystal wants to thank her loving husband, Dan, who she shares the stage with tonight as Sebastian, and her beautiful children, Daniel (4), and Eve (2), they are the one thing she loves more than performing. Playing Ursula has been a long-time dream for Krystal and she’s excited you're here to watch that dream come true.
